Though the textile and bag designers at Maruca are proud to say that their bags are American made, they are highly inspired by global crafts. They thank Indonesia and India for their glorious Ikats, Eastern Europe for floral work and Africa for their bouncing, bold patterns. Ultimately, they thank Mother Nature. Each line consistently has an organic vibe, woody weaves with brilliant tones. Maruca Design embraces the principles of the Arts & Crafts Movement in America (1860-1910); a movement that invigorated and emphasized the value placed on traditional and decorative craftsmanship using simple forms. The result is that they can create a product that is unique, well made, and moves from heart to hand. They are lightweight and travel easily with zippered and or open pockets inside and out. Their shapes and sizes range from cross body wallets, to large totes, to cosmetic bags, and coin purses. The City Girl is my favorite bag when I am out walking or shopping. It has enough room for what is needed but is so light that I forget it’s on my shoulder.
