The artists who create Cathayana’s beautiful silk scarves use an ancient Japanese resist dying technique (Shibori) and take their inspiration for colors from the beauty of nature. Each piece is hand dyed, pleated, painted and hemmed by Cathayana’s artists, one piece at a time at their studio in Michigan. The combined pleated and dyed aspect of their scarves creates a unique and extraordinary look. They also make a line of woven ribbon bags in geometric patterns.
