Robin Kaplan is a dye artist and designer that I have admired for many years. She combines her wonderful sense of color with her use of beautiful fabrics, using silks for her blouses and dresses, and nylon mesh for her cardigans which are the perfect accompaniment over a sleeveless dress or one of her tanks. Her skirts, dresses, and coats are collectable pieces. I always enjoy seeing her new collections twice a year and bringing some of them back to our store in Great Barrington.
Robin works from her studio in CA and has recently expanded to working in Italy for part of every year. To me her dresses, cut on the bias, are the most flattering dresses I have put on in years. She creates fitted bodices that transform into skirts so full they feel as though they go on forever and make it almost an imperative to dance when you are wearing them. Her fabrics are soft, and feminine and fun to wear.
